Ella the Magician

Ella, we think that you are very clever. How did you manage to get the red silk hankie into the little box?
What is the secret?

Describing Verbs

Today we made a list of as many verbs as we could and shared them with the class.
In our reading book we looked for verbs in the story and here is a list that Josiah and Netika made with Mrs Chisnall.

Making Mistakes is Good

This week in Maths we are solving addition problems where one of the addends is missing. Here is our thinking from Maths Groups Diamonds and Hexagons.
Mrs Chisnall doesn't mind if we make mistakes because that is how we learn. In maths, it is the sharing with others as to how we got the answer that is more important.

Congratulations

Well done to the following children who are now ready to be tested on the next Maths Knowledge Level because they scored 80% or above:
Now working at Stage 4 (M.J., Kassie and Annaliese)
Now working at Stage 5 (Rayhan, Harman, Matthew, Mikayla M., Ella and Iliya)

I will have to work out if it is mathletics that is making the difference or the children using the maths knowledge sheet in their Home Book to nail their Maths Knowledge!
A big thank you to those parents who have been supporting their children.

If your child's name has not been mentioned above, it could be that they were away when we had the testing or they are already working at Stage 4 or 5.

Check out our Autumn stories

W3 went for a walk around the block

We collected some leaves
We talked about the trees and the leaves on the ground

We used our senses. Our eyes, hands and ears.

We brain stormed our ideas
We wrote some similes

We wrote our ideas into 2 paragrahs

Discovery Learning-Vehicles

W3 have been talking about vehicles.
This week we have been thinking about how we could make a vehicle with wheels.
For homework tonight, the children are going to collect materials from around the house to bring to school so that they can test their ideas.
We will be posting photos on the blog of our models. At this stage we are only making a prototype
(mock up/model).

If you have any extra materials around the house like containers (boxes, clean plastic bottles, milk lids or similar for wheels etc., they may be helpful to children who forget or can't find anything-THANK YOU :)

For Parents

On the right hand side you will see headings for Literacy and Numeracy.
Just click on the blue links to quickly get into the sites given on your child's homework sheet.
For example, Reading Eggs where your child can login using their details. Please let me know if you need your child's login details, the same is true for mathletics.

I would appreciate feed back on the vocabulary and spelling sites and any others which you have found helpful :)
